2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address
- Name (optional)
- Encrypted password (we never store plaintext passwords)
2.2 Payment Information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, CVV, or full payment details on our servers. We receive and store:
- Stripe customer ID
- Stripe subscription ID and status
- Subscription tier and renewal date
Stripe’s handling of your payment data is governed by Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
2.3 Usage Data
We may collect data about how you interact with the Platform, including:
- Pages visited and features used
- Filter and search queries (to improve recommendations)
- Browser type, device, and operating system
- IP address and general geographic location
- Session duration and referral source
2.4 Alert Preferences
If you create deal alerts (Pro feature), we store your alert criteria (county, price range, minimum deal score) to match against new lien data and send you email notifications.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and maintain your account and Pro subscription.
- Send deal alert emails when new liens match your saved criteria.
- Process payments and send billing-related communications.
- Respond to support requests and inquiries.
- Improve the Platform, including AI scoring models and data quality.
- Send product updates and platform announcements (you may opt out).
- Comply with legal obligations.
4. Data We Do Not Sell
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. We do not share your data with data brokers, advertisers, or marketing networks.
5. Data Sharing
We share data only in these limited circumstances:
- Stripe — to process payments. Only necessary billing information is transmitted.
- Email provider — to send alert notifications and transactional emails via our configured SMTP service.
- Legal requirements — if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
- Business transfers — in the event of a merger or acquisition, user data may be transferred as part of the business assets. We will notify you before this occurs.
6. Cookies and Analytics
6.1 Session Cookies
We use session cookies (via NextAuth.js) to keep you logged in. These are essential for Platform operation and cannot be disabled without logging out.
6.2 Analytics
We may use privacy-respecting analytics tools to understand aggregate Platform usage. These tools do not track you across websites and do not build advertising profiles. Any analytics are configured to anonymize IP addresses.
6.3 No Advertising Cookies
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or third-party tracking scripts.
7. Data Retention
We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Deal alert preferences are retained until you delete them. Anonymized usage data may be retained indefinitely for Platform improvement.
After account deletion, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., billing records, which may be retained for 7 years).
8. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures including:
- Passwords hashed with bcrypt before storage.
- All data transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption.
- Database access restricted to application credentials with least-privilege principles.
- Stripe handles all payment card data in a PCI-compliant environment.
No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we use commercially reasonable means to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — request that inaccurate data be corrected.
- Deletion — request that your account and personal data be deleted.
- Opt-out — unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the unsubscribe link or by contacting us. Note: transactional emails (billing, alert notifications) cannot be opted out of while your account is active.
- Portability — request a machine-readable export of your account data.
10. How to Delete Your Account
To delete your account and all associated personal data:
- Cancel your Pro subscription (if active) from the dashboard.
- Email us at privacy@clearfinanceai.com with the subject line “Delete My Account” from your registered email address.
- We will confirm deletion within 5 business days and complete it within 30 days.
11. Children's Privacy
The Platform is not directed to individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we become aware that a minor has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. For material changes, we will notify you by email or via a prominent notice on the Platform prior to the change becoming effective.
